In the Navy . . .

To celebrate the gorgeous sunny Spring weather that we have been waiting for all month long, Carrie and I answered the call to tour the Naval ships that are docked this week at Pier 88 as part of Fleet Week. And, aren't we glad we did! The USS Kearsarge exceeded all our expectations as a technologically advanced city afloat. The girls were able to climb all over HMMVs, DUCKs, tanks, and other vehicles. The personnel also demonstrated various weaponry, giving Alex and Katie an up close look; but, you can see from the photos that they had a little trouble gaining the strength to cock them! The grand finale of the tour was the top deck, complete with several different helicopters, plenty of men in uniform, and the flying flags of all our allies framed by the gorgeous Manhattan skyline.
